Be a Lifeline for Animal Activists in Prison!
Animal Activists in Prison
Need Your Support
Many animal rights activists are serving time on behalf of their
dedication to the animal rights movement. Show these activists
your solidarity and support by writing them.
In October 2007,
Jonathan Paul, a dedicated animal activist and ally of
Last Chance for
Animals, began serving his 51 months sentence for his role
in the 1997 arson of the Cavel West Slaughterhouse. Over 500
horses were tortured and slaughtered weekly at Cavel West.
Jonathan was arrested with 10 other activists in January 2006 as
part of the "Green
Scare".
In May 2008,
Sean
Kirtley was found guilty of campaigning and organizing
peaceful protests against Sequani, an animal testing lab in
Ledbury, England. Sean was sentences to four and a half years in
prison along with other protestors.
Please write to Jonathan, Sean, and other animal activists who
are serving time in prison on behalf of the animals (contact
information is below). Your letter will provide a much needed
lifeline.

Write to Animal Activists in Prison!
List of DO'S & DONT'S for writing to prisoners.
Please use common sense; don't write anything that is likely to
get a prisoner in trouble!
DO: Write on both sides of the paper.
DO: Write your address inside on the letter or card.
DO: Number the pages of your letter (i.e. 1/4, 2/4, etc.)
DON'T: Put an address label inside the card or letter.
DON'T: Send stamps, envelopes, blank paper or blank notecards.
DON'T: Send any form of currency.
DON'T: Send photographs larger than 4x6 or Polaroid's. Make sure
photo content is appropriate.
DON'T: Include paperclips, staples or metal objects inside your
letter.
DON'T: Send a card that has glitter or any 3D objects on it.
DON'T: Send cards with paper inserts glued in them.
DON'T: Tape your envelope shut.
DON'T: Write "legal mail" or anything that implies you are an
attorney on your letter.
